There is this saying that "seeing is believing", but sometimes what we see is only what we choose to see or what we expect to see. This is not about hallucinating or neurotic delusions; it is true that whatever we see is only one side of the picture, tinted in shades of our personal opinions, prejudices and morals.
Such is the wonder of filtered perception. A veil that blinds us as well as saves us from seeing what we don't like to see. Maybe we are still not ready to see the world as it really is, or perhaps there is no such thing as an unfiltered perception.
Nevertheless, even the blind can see what we have evolved into; a cold, competitive society where everything is not what it seems, a world where smiles sometimes conceal deadly daggers, a place where friendship is no more than an equation of usefulness and advantage.
An intricate web of lies. A jungle of predator and prey.
What have we become?
