And so it happened, as if it would be a shocking surprise if it did not. Yes, time moves on again in its usual unheeding pace, the clock struck twelve and everything continued on, in old fashion mundaneness. So the world moves into a new year, another allegedly 'fresh new start' so that the world can aspire to a brighter, better future.
Please just let this year be better than the previous. Please.
2004. A year of ups and downs but mainly downs. A year that weighs down heavily like a nightmare one can't run from. Nerves chaffed raw from the lingering desire to have hope, to have the privilege to dream and hope. Mind torn from the struggle against resignation and despair and yet... a little dash of hope can do miracles in dismal times.
2005. A supposedly 'brand new' year, unknown but full of 'hope' and 'prospect'. A chance to reach greater heights, a brave new world of opportunity, but will the winds at last change direction? Or is it down once more to this dungeon of my black despair, down this road to the prison of my mind? Hope seems so near and yet so far, a lingering temptation that fevers the mind and maddens the soul. To have, and yet at the same time not to have, hope...
Free me or bury me. I can't do the time anymore. Let hope for once be more than mere flights of fancy. Love me, that's all I ask of you.
