The very first time I heard a recording of Liszt's "La Campanella" back then in 1997, I thought: "Wow, nice piano duet." Then I realised it was a solo work.
It really sounded like there was more than a pair of hands playing. I kid you not.
Now that I have seen the score notation for the work, for a mere pair of hands. I am stumped. "La Campanella" is very beautiful, and yet technically bordering on the impossible (I would even say insane).
I'll need an extra hand, or even two. The trills, the leaps... *shudder*
